Business Card Designs

In these recessionary times every penny counts. Any chance to cut back, save money or get something free must be examined. Is it really low-cost or free? Are there any strings? What’s the catch?

Business cards may not be at the top of your lists of needs. But if you really can get them free, why not go for it? Taking up an offer of business cards for free (usually 50 or 100) is a good way to “get your feet wet” – to see if business cards improve your sales or client list – before you go whole hog and buy a thousand at full price.

Check out more than one company. Look at the designs they offer (try to resist clicking on “More designs just £5.99!”). The choices for free cards are limited, but there should be enough variations over two or three offers to give you something you like. Continue with choice of fonts, layouts and graphics (if available).

Before you click “Done,” though, make sure you have all the facts. Most printers require you to pay shipping and handling. Usually this fee is quite reasonable, but take nothing for granted. It is your responsibility to find out what the costs are.

Check and double check the limitations. Have you used a background from the £5.99 column? Chosen a finish (matte, glossy, coated) not included in the free offer? Most of all how does it look? If you made the right choices, it should look simple and elegant, not cheap.
